 Dr.S.M.Hardikar, after obtaining F.R.C.S from U.K.(Edinburgh), in the year 1964, started practicing as an Orthopedic Surgeon in Pune in 1971, with a small Nursing Home of 10 beds. As a result of his clinical skill and good doctor patient relationship, within a period of 2 years the situation demanded expansion of his activities thus a Public Charitable Trust was established in 1974, namely Sushrut Medical Care & Research Society, which was based on professional expertise with social commitment. Soon Hardikar Hospital became popular brand name as a leading Accident Hospital and a referral for all types of Trauma and Orthopedic cases for the entire Western Maharashtra and beyond. |

 Professor Emeritus status:
Dr.S.M.Hardikar has worked as Hon. Professor in Sassoon General Hospital and B.J.Medical college for almost three decades. Churned out over 150 young Ortho Surgeons after teaching and training The Govt. of Maharashtra in recognition of these outstanding services has honored him with Professor Emeritus status.
